I was a high school student taking watercolor classes at the "Barn" at the time. I remember Arthur Maynard telling me about the "lines of force" in a composition, grabbing a painting tag, and sketching out a description on the back. 44 years later, I was reading about dynamic symmetry in composition and once again thought about that discussion. Rummaging through my old art bag from the time, I was very happy to find that sketch!
He was a great guy.
